Financial Aid - Info Check SheetSTEPS TO DETERMINE FINANCIAL AID ELIGIBILITY: 1. Student submits the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 2. The U.S. Dept. of Education will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR) by mail or if entered, to your email address which will give you the status of your Federal financial aid eligibility. *Note the date of process - to enter on your Student Payment Contract. 3. CMN Financial Aid Office (FAO) will receive FAFSA information of all students who enter CMN’s School Code: 031251. The data from your FAFSA will be used to determine other financial aid funding eligibility (e.g. Federal, State, Tribal, etc.). 4. If your FAFSA application was selected for Verification by the U.S. Dept. of Education, CMN FAO will request additional documentation and/or information from you. Make sure you complete, SIGN and return all information and forms to the FAO as soon as possible. Your financial aid process will not continue until this information is received and processed. . 5. If you are requesting Tribal/BIA funding; Complete and Submit an Indian Grant Application (and any other documents or forms required) to your Tribal Higher Education Office. 6. If you are seeking Veteran’s Educational Benefits contact CMN FAO to complete a Certification Request Form. 7. You will receive a CMN Financial Aid Award Letter stating what funds you are eligible for when your FA File is complete with the following: 8. You must SIGN your CMN Financial Aid Award Letter and RETURN it to the FAO for your awarding process to be complete. 9. Funds will be ordered approximately one week after the Add/Drop Date. If you are late in your financial aid process, funds will be ordered when your signed Award Letter is received by the Financial Aid Office. **Please be patient as funds are ordered from outside sources. For you to receive your funds will depend on how long it takes the outside sources to process and send the funds to CMN. 10. Funds received will be applied to your CMN account. When your CMN account balance is paid in full any remainder will be refunded to you. The Business Office will notify you via email when a check is available for pick up.
