Lloyd Frieson, Traditional Recruiter

Lloyd Frieson earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Menominee Nation (CMN) in 2017 with a major in Public Administration and the honor of being chosen as student speaker for the commencement ceremonies. The B.A. degree capped a CMN academic career that included an Associate of Arts in 2016 with double majors in Sustainable Development and Liberal Studies, and selection as the 2014 Student of the Year. Today, his professional role at CMN is providing recruitment assistance to traditional-age students, typically those entering the College shortly after high school graduation.

During his time at the College, Lloyd took advantage of CMN’s many organizations and work study programs. These included Student Government, where he served as Treasurer for two terms and President in his senior year. Among the creative and cultural activities offered to CMN students, he chose acting in the College’s curricular American Indian Theater productions; committee service and performance with annual Menominee Pageants, and speech competitor in American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) national competitions. For service opportunities, Lloyd joined other students as a youth empowerment mentor and worked with CMN’s Sustainable Development Institute as a garden assistant and food sovereignty intern.

Lloyd’s professional experience immediately following graduation from CMN included work as a Wrap Around Facilitator for the Menominee Tribal Wellness Court; a Shelter Aide for the Menominee Domestic Violence Shelter; Domestic Violence Facilitator for the Maehnowesekiyah Treatment Center, and Peer Specialist for the center’s Residential Treatment clients. He returned to the College’s professional staff in January 2020.
