Forest Management of Aspen by Kristin & Maggie [Kristin & Maggie]

Written by Kristin & Maggie

The common name is Aspen and the scientific name is

Populous Tremulous. There are two tree types of aspen. One

is called Trembling Aspen and the second one is called Big

Toothed Aspen. The sapling has soft green bark, and the

leaves are tiny. The tree is shade intolerant. Mature Aspens

are about 65-85 years of age. Mature trees also have bigger

leaves, and crusty grey bark.

The roles of Aspen in forest ecosystem are: shelter

for the animals, fertilizer, oxygen, and food for some of the

animals. The Aspen depends on the sun, carbon dioxide, water,

and nutrients to survive.

Animal's, other tree's, human's, and the whole

ecosystem depends on Aspen to survive. Growth, deterioration,

fires, tornadoes, germination, and forester's, all move Aspen

into the next stage of their lives.
