The College of Menominee
Nation (CMN) Bookstore is in full swing with a variety of CMN logo items
on sale. The new bookstore has assumed the task of providing CMN
students with textbooks for their CMN classes and a number of other
necessities as well.
The new bookstore manager, Verna deLeon, was hired during the summer of 2002 and began organizing and preparing a newly remodeled room at the college that would serve as the bookstore. "We’re really excited about having a new bookstore here at CMN" said deLeon. "We’re continually expanding our inventory and providing a greater variety of items." |
| A number of interesting items were recently added and put on display for purchase. Crewneck and hooded sweatshirts with the CMN logo, in a variety of colors which include the college colors, bright colored long sleeve and short sleeve t-shirts as well as drawstring tote bags and CMN logo caps are on sale at the CMN Bookstore. "Of course we offer snacks and ice cream for our students, but what’s really important to them besides textbooks, is to provide the school supplies and the items that they need for classes," said deLeon. " It’s my intention that the CMN - Bookstore become a convenience for them, they should be able to get what they need right here, they shouldn’t have to leave the campus to get paper or pencils, a couple of aspirin for a headache or even a little gift for a friend." she said. |

deLeon also sees an opportunity to develop as a bookstore that provides items unique to the Menominee People. "I want to reach out into the community to see what kind of Menominee arts and crafts we have to offer," said deLeon. "I’m working at making our college bookstore a destination for local patrons and tourists that visit our community. That means offering a special line of items that identify who we are," she said. "Besides arts and crafts, there are also some wonderful books written about the Menominee and we are working toward becoming a center that provides as much literature on the Menominee People as possible." |
| The bookstore is located in the Glenn Miller Hall at the College of Menominee Nation. It is open to students and the general public, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. |
