Sunflowers

Sunflowers

Photos, frozen moments in time
from some forgotten place.
Of a young girl in the garden,
a smile upon her face.
Arms reaching to the broad green leaves,
growing above her head.
Over the summer the blooms grew,
and golden flowers spread.
Then time crept toward her quickly,
as grandpa held her high.
Reaching up to touch the flowers
that stretched into the sky.
As winter brought the flowers death,
and times changed like weather.
Blooms or grandpas don’t stay,

Some things don’t last forever.

Sparrow

Rain

Tiny gems fall
to the ground.

They shatter on me
without a sound.

As I watch a
sparrow do a
jig in a dirty
puddle.
