This is Just to Say

William Carlos Williams' poem, This is Just to Say, has the appearance of a note (an apology of sorts) left on a refrigerator.  See below for a link to the poem. Other than being a plum pilferer, the narrator is unidentified, leaving the possibilities of interpretation and mimicry wide open.
This spring CMN's creative writing club invited members to write poems modeled on, making fun of, responding to This is Just to Say. Delberta's poem is an example of the latter.

You'll find a brief biograpy of Williams at Poets.Org

A WIFE'S REPLY

The plums were mine
as you know
but breakfast is important

I’ll let it stand
Just this once
But don’t let it
Never happen again.
