JOB TITLE: Academic/Career Advisor
SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Support Services
LOCATION: College of Menominee Nation - Keshena Campus
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a full time position with the funding split 75% Student Support Services and 25% WIS-Spec. The purpose of this position is to assist Student Support Services (SSS) participants and non-participants in the area of academic advising and in understanding the options available to them. SSS assists low-income, disabled and first generation students stay in college until they earn their baccalaureate degree. Advisor will assist other CMN students in need of career and academic services. This is a fully grant funded position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide academic advisement services to SSS and non-SSS participants.

  • Assess each participant’s academic needs;
  • Develop an effective plan to meet the academic needs of each participant;
  • Coordinate tutoring for students and supervise tutoring staff;
  • Coordinate equipment usage for SSS participants;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate will:

  • possess a Master’s degree in education, counseling, administration or related field; a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable with related work experience;
  • demonstrate exemplary counseling and communication skills;
  • have the ability to understand and promote student development and achievement;
  • have the ability to facilitate transitions and counsel students toward the realization of their full educational potential;
  • have the ability to recognize, appreciate, and serve cultural differences and the special needs of students and families;
  • demonstrate appropriate ethical behavior and professional conduct in the fulfillment of roles and responsibilities;
  • have the ability to develop, collect, analyze, and interpret data;
  • demonstrate advocacy and leadership in advancing the concerns of students.
