JOB TITLE: Health Careers Coordinator
SUPERVISOR: Dean of Nursing
LOCATION: College of Menominee Nation - Keshena Campus
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Health Careers Coordinator is a member of the nursing faculty who is responsible for the development and coordination of the health career program in technical education, the coordination of the nursing assistant skills lab and the Nursing Learning Resource Center and teaching assigned courses. This is a fully grant funded position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Teach assigned courses in health careers/technical education as designated by the Dean of Nursing and the Dean of Technical Education;

·         Facilitate the functioning of the nursing assistance lab/classroom and Nursing Learning Resource Center.

·         Assist students with their nursing skills.  Evaluate student skills and make referrals for lack of academic progress, learning difficulties or other concerns;

·         Coordinate sites as needed for practicum and clinical experiences of health career/technical education courses.

·         Develop/update curricula for the assigned courses/community education classes and integrate instruction with current technological tools;

·         Coordinate and mentor adjunct health care instructors;

·         Coordinate health career/technical education curriculum development and current industry certifications.

·         Assist with employer linkages and job placement for program students.

·         Develop mastery of technical skills check-off chart for Medical Transcription, Health Care Provider, Medication Assistant, and other health career programs;

·         Recruit health career and technical education students in partnership with Student Services staff;

·         Advise health career and technical education students in partnership with Student Services staff;

·         Develop strategies aimed at increasing student retention in partnership with Student Services staff;

·         Maintain and update nursing assistant laboratory and Nursing Learning Resource Center equipment and software;

·         Assist in the preparation and administration of the budget;

·         Participate in CMN committee, accreditation, and classroom processes;

·         Develop and facilitate health career occupations and technical education advisory committee with employer representatives;

·         Fulfill any other duties assigned by the Dean of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or a Bachelor’s in nursing with a master’s in a related field;
  • Meet the qualifications for Wisconsin technical college educators;
  • 3 years teaching experience in an institution of higher learning or other training environment;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong computer skills;
  • Ability to facilitate transitions and counsel students toward the realization of their full educational and career potential;
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization skills, as well as the ability to interact with diverse populations;
  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin;

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to infectious waste through contact and care of patients in affiliated clinical agencies. May be exposed to a variety of stressful situations and physical exertion involved in the clinical supervision of students. General body strength and stamina may be required for occasional lifting and transferring patients and equipment.  Must be able to perform technical procedures and fine work associated with nursing care.  Normal visual acuity and the ability to discriminate noise is required and compensated.
