Trades Building Staff Members

Debra Downs
Technical Education Coordinator

As the Technical Education Coordinator, Debra oversees the Technical Education Department and the trades programs at the College of Menominee Nation (CMN). She is involved in all facets of the department, from coordinating semester course offerings to securing funding to help the trades programming flourish at CMN. 

A member of the Ojibwe Nation under the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and a Menominee descendant, Debra is dedicated to helping all Indigenous communities thrive. 

Her career is one of service, having been a business owner and caterer before finding herself working in higher education. She has been with CMN since 2009, having worked as a librarian and advisor to students before taking on her current role. 

Debra is a Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) graduate, earning an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education. She received her Bachelor's in Human Resources and Strategic Leadership from Concordia University Wisconsin. 

When not working, Debra spends time with her two sons and grandchild. She enjoys cooking and appreciating the many blessings in her life. 

Jason Eggert
Technical Education Instructor

Since 2018, Jason has instructed students in the Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Sustainable Residential Building, and Welding programs at the College of Menominee Nation (CMN). 

He received a technical diploma in electricity from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) before graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor’s in technical education. Jason received a Master of Science in Education from Viterbo University. 

Jason is passionate about education and immensely enjoys helping students prepare for a trades-based career. In addition to instructing at CMN, he has been a high school technical education teacher at Shawano High School for more than 17 years, helping young minds learn technical education skills. 

Having been born and raised in Shawano, he has a love for his community. Jason and his wife own and operate a small beef farm in their spare time. 

Miranda Gollnow
CTE Manager

Since 2010, Miranda has been an employee of CMN, having worked in both the Library and the Department of Continuing Education. 

In her current position, Miranda advises students in the Trades programs as they begin their educational journey and as they graduate and move into their careers. Her workforce development and higher education knowledge is valuable to her role and is something she learned while serving as the Director of the Menominee Job Center. 

She is an alumnus of CMN, having degrees in Early Childhood Education and Biological Sciences. Miranda is a knowledge seeker who truly enjoys learning everything about anything.

Miranda spends her free time with her husband and two children, finding ways to make memories. An enrolled member of the Menominee Nation, she truly enjoys showing her children the forest and rivers on the Menominee Reservation. 

Cynthia Handrich
Home Health Aid Instructor

Cynthia has had a long-standing career in the medical field, both serving as a healthcare professional herself and educating others to do the same. She received her Registered Nurse (RN) license from Mercy Medical Center School of Nursing and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She graduated from Silver Lake College with a Master’s in Quality Measures and Leadership in Education. 

For over 20 years, Cynthia has taught and trained students at the College of Menominee Nation. As a seasoned Home Health Aid Instructor, she is passionate about educating. She considers teaching students the skills to become professional caregivers and assist their communities a privilege. 

Outside the office, Cynthia enjoys traveling with her family and spending quality time with those she cares about. 

Portia Koebach
IT Supervisor

For more than 15 years, Portia has helped CMN with Information Technology (IT) needs and projects. In addition to being the IT Supervisor for the College of Menominee Nation (CMN), Portia also instructs students in the IT Specialist program. 

She is a CMN alumni, receiving an Associate’s degree in the Microcomputer Specialist program. She is working on her bachelor’s degree in Information Technology through the American Intercontinental University-Online. 

Portia’s career may be in IT, but it is more than a trade: it is a field she truly enjoys learning about and working in. She is inspired by the students she teaches and enjoys working with and helping people in the Menominee community and surrounding areas. 

Portia enjoys being a homebody when not at CMN, assisting with IT needs. She is a gamer at heart. You can usually find her playing World of Warcraft™ with her cat on her lap.

James B. Mathews
CTE Specialist

James has been with the College of Menominee Nation (CMN) since 2012. As a CTE Specialist, he instructs students in the Welding program, helping them master skills like metallurgy, blueprint reading, and machine safety.

A graduate of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) with a degree in the Welding and Weld Inspector programs, James has an established career in the trades industry. 

With 20 years of experience overseeing welding for a local shop, he is also the Career and Technical Education Instructor for the Clintonville School District. 

James is a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Master Trainer and a certified American Welding Society (AWS) Weld Inspector with a teaching license. Education and teaching are his passions, and he credits the support from the local community for himself and his family as encouragement to keep doing what he loves. 

A local community member, James grew up in Gresham. As a father of two boys, he spends his free time coaching his son's Little League team, fishing, and enjoying sports. His wife owns a food truck, which he helps her with on weekends.

Anne Morris
Project Manager / Technical Education Instructor

Since beginning working at the College of Menominee Nation (CMN) in 2022, Anne has helped many students while in their program at CMN. She graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) with an Associate’s in Health Information Technology and a Technical Diploma in Phlebotomy. Since then, she has worked in various disciplines within the medical field, making her a valuable instructor for CMN’s Medical Office Technician (MOT) program. 

Her students inspire and motivate Anne. She considers the chance to impact students’ lives and help them achieve their goals a powerful driving force. She thrives under the challenge of continuously finding new ideas and methods to engage with students and help them learn in their own ways. 

Anne grew up in Oneida and now lives in Shawano. She enjoys reading, working in her garden, and spending time with her family outdoors or swimming at nearby Shawano Lake. Anne has a deep love for animals having adopted five dogs from the Boston Terrier Rescue, which she volunteers at.

Chasidie Tourtillott
Project Manager / Technical Education Instructor

Chasidie is the Network Administrator III for the College of Menominee Nation (CMN). In addition, she is one of the instructors in the Information Technology (IT) Specialist program. For more than ten years, she has assisted CMN with its IT needs. She has made a career in IT with more than 20 years of experience in the field. 

Outside of CMN, Chasidie likes spending time with her nieces and nephews, often gaming with them. She is an avid hunter and enjoys being in the forests of the Menominee Nation. You can find her on the green playing golf when hunting is not in season.
