Step-by-Step Guide to Applying for Aid
Students requesting financial aid must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). As the name states, the FAFSA is free and can be filed on the web to eliminate delays in processing. To be considered for the maximum number of financial aid sources, students should submit their FAFSA as soon as possible. Students should be aware that some forms of financial aid are limited.
Note: Outside funding sources (such as certain tribal grants) may have earlier deadlines.
Students seeking funding from outside agencies such as tribal funding or veterans benefits may be required to follow additional steps. CMN's recommended path to applying for financial aid consists of the following:
- Step 1: Generate a FSA ID
- Step 2: Complete the FAFSA
- Step 3: Complete & Submit Tribal Education Applications
- Step 4: Receive your Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Step 5: Review your Student Aid Report (SAR)
- Step 6: CMN Receives FAFSA Data
- Step 7: Financial Aid is Awarded
