Types of Financial Aid

Native American students who are enrolled members may receive aid from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. To be considered for this grant, students must contact their Tribal Education Office for an Indian Scholarship Application and to learn about other specific eligibility requirements.

Pell grants are based on financial need and are pro-rated according to the student’s enrollment status.

The Department of Education will calculate the Pell Grant length for a student by adding together each of the annual percentages of a student’s award that was actually disbursed to the student.

• Twelve Full-Time Semesters = 600%
• Full-Time per Semester (12+ Credits) = 50%
• Three-Quarter-Time per Semester (9-11 Credits) = 37.5%
• Half-Time per Semester (6-8 Credits) = 25%
• Part-Time per Semester (1-5 Credits) = 12.5%

A student must be PELL eligible in order to receive a FSEOG.

The Federal Work Studies Program provides part-time employment on campus.

To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need and be attending at least half-time.

Student Eligibility for FWS Program

1. Have a financial remaining need
2. Continuing student has a cumulative GPA of 2.00
3. Enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits

1. F.A.O. initials application for eligible students
2. Student will turn application into appropriate supervisor listed
3. Supervisor interviews
4. Supervisor and chosen student complete, sign and turn into F.A.O. Work–Study Contract and other paperwork

Wage/Hours

All work study positions pay $12.00 per hour. Students are limited to work 20 hours per when classes are in session.

The Iraq and Afghanistan Service Grant is for students whose parent or guardian died as a result of military service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Students must complete the FAFSA and meet the specific eligibility requirements below in order to qualify.

• You are not eligible for a Federal Pell Grant on the basis of your expected family contribution, but meet the remaining Federal Pell Grant eligibility requirements.
• Your parent or guardian was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces and died as a result of military service performed in Iraq or Afghanistan after the events of 9/11.
• You were under 24 years old or enrolled in college at least part-time at the time of your parent’s or guardians’ death.

To receive WHEG, the student must:

• be a Wisconsin resident
• be attending a Wisconsin College at least half-time
• not yet already received a bachelor’s degree.

This program is a need-based grant, and eligibility can not exceed ten semesters.

Eligibility for the Talent Incentive Program requires that the student must:

• Be a resident of Wisconsin
• Be enrolled at least half-time
• Show financial need
• Be educationally disadvantaged

As with other programs, eligibility can not exceed ten semesters.

To be eligible for this grant, the student must:

• Be a Wisconsin resident
• Be enrolled at least half-time
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be an ethnic minority
• Be in the second year of a two-year degree program.

Eligibility for the WMRG can not exceed eight semesters.

This grant is for Native American students who are Wisconsin residents attending a Wisconsin college.

Award is based on financial need with a limit of ten semesters of eligibility.

Visually handicapped or hearing impaired Wisconsin residents may qualify. To be considered, the student must show financial need in addition to having a severe or profound hearing or visual impairment.

Eligibility is limited up to ten semesters.
