How to Apply

Step One: Apply Online

CMN applications are handled through our student system, MyEmpower. When you begin your application, you'll be prompted to select the style that best suits your needs.

Prospective students wishing to register for Home Health Aide, Medical Office Technician, Education, and Substance Abuse Counselor programs are first required to complete the State of Wisconsin Disclosure Form.

HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR ENROLLMENT STATUS: 

You might be a First-Time Freshman if: 

  • You graduated from High School or obtained an HSED/GED in the last year
  • You never attended a college or university 

You might be a Returning Student if: 

  • You have attended the College of Menominee Nation in the past
  • You left the College of Menominee Nation to attend another college or university and are now returning to the College of Menominee Nation

You might be a Transfer Student if: 

  • You attended any college or university other than the College of Menominee Nation
  • You attended more than one college or university and are now applying to the College of Menominee Nation

You are a High School Student if: 

  • You are currently attending a High School and have not yet graduated 
  • You are being homeschooled 

You might be a Non-Degree-Seeking Student if: 

  • You are enrolling in the Home Health Aid Certificate Program
  • You are taking a class for professional development
  • You are taking the three classes required for the CDA test 
  • You are not looking to obtain a degree from the College of Menominee Nation 

Step Two: Submit Admission Documents

In addition to the standard application, the College of Menominee Nation requires a few other standard documents to be submitted alongside your application. When submitting these documents, you have a few options:

  1. Upload your Tribal Enrollment Verification or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CIB) document to your MyEmpower account on the CMN website. (See Step 3 for more information on MyEmpower)
  2. Scan and send your Tribal Enrollment Verification or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CIB) document to admissions@menominee.edu, or fax them to 715-799-1336
  3. The College of Menominee Nation Admissions Office only accepts official college transcripts directly sent from “Accredited/Active” institutions. To learn more about your college's accreditation, visit www.chea.org. Official transcripts submitted through an electronic transcript service (for example, Transcript Network) should be directed to the Admissions Office e-mail address at admissions@menominee.edu.

Step Three: Create a MyEmpower Account

MyEmpower is CMN's online student portal, which will serve as a hub of information and insight for the entirety of your college experience. MyEmpower is where you'll go to monitor and track your Admission and Financial Aid statuses. You'll receive a username and password shortly after your admission application is submitted.

Step Four: Submit Your FAFSA

Complete the FAFSA at the official Federal Student Aid website, or in their MyStudentAid mobile app, making sure to review the 2023-2024 Financial Aid Student Checklist.

Be sure to include CMN's School Code, 031251!

Step Five: Obtain Your Student ID

Obtain a free student ID card from the campus you are planning to attend. Be sure to have your current class schedule and another picture ID.

Step Six: Acceptance & Class Registration

Notification of Acceptance

Acceptance into the College of Menominee Nation does not guarantee acceptance into specific programs (e.g., bachelor degree programs). Acceptance letters will be mailed to the address entered on the application.

To learn more about program-specific admission requirements and fees, please contact the Admissions Office at 715-799-6226, ext. 3051.

After receiving your acceptance letter, call the campus you plan to attend for information on registering for your classes.


Standard Admission Eligibility

Students may apply for admission to the College of Menominee Nation (CMN) at any time throughout the year. As an open enrollment institution we guarantee admittance if all admission requirements have been met. Specific programs require separate admission criteria and have limited enrollment. CMN does not guarantee acceptance into these programs. Click here to Request Information about the College of Menominee Nation.

The application process is straightforward and explained in some detail below.

Requirements for Admission

  • CMN applicants must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
  • CMN applicants must be a high school graduate, or be in possession of a GED or HSED. For more information about Wisconsin GED/HSED program requirements, visit the official Department of Public Instruction website.
    • Individuals that received a GED or HSED outside of the State of Wisconsin will be considered based on review of State and program requirements from which the certificate or diploma was awarded.
    • Individuals who earned high school or college credits or diploma from an international school will require further review and may require additional cost for transcripts.
  • Home-schooled applicants will be considered on an individual basis.

CMN does not currently accept International students.
