NEXT-GEN Mini Grants

The College of Menominee Nation and USDA NEXT-GEN are pleased to announce the continuation of our $5,000 grant opportunity aimed at supporting and empowering Wisconsin's Native American communities.

Through this mini-grant program, we seek to foster initiatives focused on natural resources, sustainable foods, and nutrition, thereby contributing to food sovereignty and community development within tribal communities. 

Eligibility
  1. Applicants must be enrolled members or descendants of the 12 Tribes in Wisconsin, operate in the state of Wisconsin, and be a Tribe, Tribal Entity, business, or a representative from a school organization. 
  2. Projects must have a clear emphasis on natural resources, sustainable foods, and/or nutrition. 
  3. Projects must align with the goals of fostering food sovereignty and community development within tribal communities.
Guidelines
  1.  Projects should be completed within one year of receiving grant funding. 
  2. Applicants will be required to submit EIN # and Articles of Incorporation. 
  3. Applicants can submit a maximum of one mini grant application per year.
SELECTION PROCESS
  1. Grant applications will be reviewed by a committee annually consisting of representatives from the College of Menominee Nation and external stakeholders. 
  2. Selection criteria include alignment with grant objectives, feasibility, potential for impact, and sustainability. 
  3. Awarded grant applicants will be notified by email and sent the grant agreement. 
  4. New applicants will be given priority if previously received funding in subsequent year
Payments
After the grant agreement is active, grantees are able to request funding by submitting an invoice for eligible expenses or receipts for reimbursement for eligible expenses.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS

Quarterly progress reports required to provide updates on project activities,
achievements, challenges, and expenditures.

Reports should include photos, testimonials, and other evidence of progress and impact.
