Student Resources & Disability Services

At CMN, our students come from all walks of life, with different challenges, stories, and needs.

Our revamped and refocused Student Resources and Disability Services programs are here to help you succeed, no matter what step of the journey you're on.

Student Resources provides additional support to help find community resources outside of school. Food insecurity, housing, transportation, and more are all within our scope of assistance.

CMN follows the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our disability services include accommodations related to any diagnosis that affects students physically, emotionally, mentally, and/or spiritually.

Required Documentation for Academic Accommodations
for Students with Disabilities

In order for accommodations to be considered, documentation must be provided from an appropriate healthcare provider and must include the information listed below. It is the student’s responsibility to inform the health care provider and/or school district what information is needed.

It may be beneficial to provide the health care provider/school district with a link to this page (www.menominee.edu/SRDS) or a copy of the "Required Documentation" PDF below.

Required Documentation:

1) The name, address, and telephone number of at least one healthcare professional and/or school district staff who has provided care to the applicant and can provide diagnostic and other information related to the applicant’s disability.
2) A description of how the student’s physical or mental impairment impacts the student’s ability to function in an academic setting and take exams under typical testing conditions.
3) Provide a copy of student’s school district IEP, ETR, and/or 504 Plan
4) A description of recommended accommodations including an explanation of why they are necessary to accommodate the applicant’s specific physical or mental impairment. If the recommendation includes an extension of the customary testing time, a specification on the amount of time (e.g. 50% additional time, etc.) and an explanation of the necessity of that accommodation should be included.

MDOTS Transportation Services

In partnership with MDOTS, CMN is now offering free transit service to current enrolled students. Your ID card must be shown to the driver upon the start of your ride.

CMN MOU Route Availability

CMN MOU routes for students are generally for the flex routes and one fixed route, but there will be some ADA-Para transit services (door-to-door) availability when Keshena Fixed routes are not running along with two other areas.  Here is a breakdown of the available routes for the agreement and if a call is needed prior to route start:

  1. Fixed Routes: routes that have designated stops and do not deviate from the assigned route. Riders need only to be at the stops to ride these routes. No need to call for a pick-up if using established stops. If not using established stops (i.e. on immediate route path) a call is recommended to ensure driver is made aware of the need to make an additional stop.
    1. Keshena:  timetable link https://www.mitwbus.com/TimetableKeshena.html
  2. Flex Routes: are routes that have designated stops but may deviate up to 2 city blocks or ¼ mile from the assigned route. Riders using the Green Bay, Shawano, and Neopit routes need only to be at the stops to ride these routes or call to ask for a deviation of up to 2 city blocks or ¼ mile. There is a premium charge of $2 for deviating from the normal route. Elders and disabled riders do not pay a deviation charge. No need to call for a pick-up if using established stops. If not using established stops (i.e. on immediate route path) a call is recommended to ensure driver is made aware of the need to make an additional stop.

    3. Green Bay: timetable link https://www.mitwbus.com/TimetableGB.html
  3. Reserve a Ride routes: are door-to-door routes that are scheduled at certain times of the day. Riders must call at least 30 minutes before route start time to be added to these routes. If there are no riders scheduled, the route will not run.

  1. ADA Para-Transit routes: are routes that focus on disabled riders. These are door-to-door routes for those not able to ride the other Fixed, Flex or Reserve a Ride routes. Riders must call for availability. The following areas will be available using these routes:
    1. Keshena: before 8:30 AM and after 2:45 PM as we currently do not offer the fixed Keshena routes during those times (that may change and we will give notice if we expand that routes time offering).
    2. Old South Branch and Keshena Lake: available during our service hours as we do not have a fixed, flex or reserve a ride route available for these areas.

For fixed and flex routes, where at all possible riders are encouraged to call 715-799-3222 to schedule a ride as this is the best way to ensure they are not missed as the driver will normally wait a bit longer if a rider is known to be at a pickup location.

Kenātamakom Emergency Funding

Kenātamakom provides emergency financial support to currently enrolled students at risk of missing school or dropping out due to unexpected financial emergencies.  This process will be set up to help students with an emergency while pursuing an education with the College of Menominee Nation.

What is Emergency Aid?

Emergencies are often surprising situations that are out of your control and very recent to necessitate financial support. You could be found eligible to receive assistance up to $500. These funds do not require repayment and are intended to help people in high need of financial aid.
