Menominee Tribal Enrollment & Records Management Internship

This student internship will be at the Menominee Enrollment Department with payment provided by College of Menominee Nation. Students in this internship will learn skills on maintaining confidentiality, and the process of determining legal status of tribal members and descendants through Records Management. The students hired will also learn how to create a new records management system that will be more readily available, and easily accessible. These duties are necessary for the Enrollment Department to operate at efficiently as possible.

Location: Off-Campus


  • Create manual files for the enrollment committee which uses this information to determine legal status of tribal members and descendants.
  • Plan and gather supplies needed for organizing and maintaining confidential records.
  • Ensure records are accurate and up to date.
  • Convert the old management system into a new records management system by completing the specific
  • tasks:
    • 1.) Replace outdated legal-size fireproof file cabinets with letter size to save space.
    • 2.) The manual files will continue to be manila, changing all to letter size.
    • 3.) Refrain from using individuals' names by changing the classification system to numerical.
  • In addition, there will be a color-coding system in place.
    • Example:
    • Enrollment – Green (with Adopted having a red mark on the label)
    • 1st Descendant - Orange
    • 2nd Descendant - Yellow.

Duration of Internship: May to August 2022


  • Must be registered or currently enrolled in six (6) or more credits
  • Must be a degree seeking student enrolled at College of Menominee Nation or another college or university. (Certain documentation may be required to confirm enrollment status)
  • Must have completed at least one semester of her/his studies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.25 or better on a 4.0 scale
