Internships vs. Apprenticeships

What is an Internship?

Internships are short term entry level positions, intended to enhance students’ knowledge in a specific area of study. They range anywhere from two to four months and are typically paid positions. Internships can provide students with meaningful experiences and allow them to meet employers for future positions.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships, conversely, are positions where individuals are trained on-the-job, earning wages and doing productive work while taking related courses. It's an effective way to gain hands-on skills and experience in a trade or profession, and prepare the apprentice for a career. Most apprenticeship programs can be completed in 3-5 years, though some last up to six.

What is a Resume?

A resume is a document you create to submit with a job application with the purpose of moving on to the next step in the process: The Interview. A resume shows your contact information, a brief summary of how your experience will help the company, formal or informal experiences (if you're new to the workforce), skills, and achievements.
